Chapter 2 — The Truth Behind Closed Doors

The mansion was so silent that even the ticking of the grandfather clock sounded deafening.

The billionaire slowly placed his briefcase on the marble floor.

His eyes never left his daughter.

She stood frozen in the oversized maid's uniform, her small hands red and cracked from scrubbing the same spotless floor for hours.

"Dad..."

Her voice broke.

He crossed the room in three long strides and dropped to one knee before her.

"What happened to you?"

She tried to smile.

"It's okay... I made Mrs. Victoria angry."

His heart nearly stopped.

Made her angry?

He gently lifted the sleeves covering her arms.

Purple bruises.

Fresh scratches.

Tiny burns.

His hands began to shake.

"Who did this?"

The girl lowered her eyes.

"I wasn't allowed to tell you."

Behind them, Victoria finally forced a laugh.

"Oh, don't be dramatic. She simply needed discipline. She's spoiled. I wanted her to learn responsibility."

The billionaire slowly stood.

His face had become terrifyingly calm.

"You dressed my daughter as a maid."

"It was only for a few days."

"You made her scrub the floors."

"It builds character."

"You hurt her."

Victoria hesitated.

"You're exaggerating."

Without another word, he turned toward the household staff.

"I want every security recording from the last six months."

Victoria's smile disappeared.

"And every employee is to remain inside this house until I finish watching them."

Several maids exchanged nervous glances.

One elderly housekeeper quietly stepped forward.

"Sir... there is something you need to know."

The room held its breath.

For years they had been too afraid to speak.

Now they finally could.

One after another, the servants revealed everything.

How Victoria had forbidden the girl from eating with the family.

How expensive dresses had been replaced with secondhand uniforms.

How birthdays had been canceled.

How punishments were handed out for the smallest mistakes.

How every bruise had been hidden before the father returned from business trips.

Each sentence felt like another knife twisting into his chest.

His daughter hadn't lost her childhood overnight.

It had been stolen... one cruel day at a time.

When the final security recording appeared on the television, the room watched in horror.

There was Victoria...

Ordering a terrified little girl to kneel.

Throwing food into the trash instead of letting her eat.

Forcing her to polish marble until midnight.

The billionaire closed his eyes.

When he opened them again...

There was no mercy left.

"I trusted you with the most precious person in my life."

Victoria's confidence finally shattered.

"Please... I can explain..."

"No."

He pressed a single button on his phone.

"Security."

Four guards entered immediately.

"Escort Mrs. Victoria out of this house."

She screamed.

"You can't do this! I'm your wife!"

He answered without looking at her.

"Not anymore."

As she was dragged toward the front door, she looked back one final time.

No one followed.

No one defended her.

Even the servants silently stepped aside.

May you like

For the first time...

She was completely alone.
