CHAPTER 2 — The Trap Closes

Back in Beverly Hills, the woman zipped her bag shut.
Perfect.
Not a sound. Not a trace. The safe looked untouched unless someone knew exactly what was missing.
She adjusted her coat, glanced one last time at the room, and smiled at her reflection in the glass.
“Easy,” she murmured.
But as she turned toward the door, it clicked.
Not her footsteps.
A lock.
She froze.
The office lights shifted—subtle at first, then brighter. The kind of controlled illumination used in interrogation rooms, not corporate suites.
Her phone buzzed.
Unknown Number.
She answered cautiously.
A voice came through—not angry, not rushed.
Calm.
Too calm.
“You always hated being watched,” Adrian said.
Her breath caught.
“That’s why you never looked up.”
Her eyes shot to the ceiling.
The security camera stared back like a silent witness.
Her grip tightened on the bag. “Adrian… listen, I can explain—”
But he cut her off.
“No. You can’t.”
A pause.
Then—
“The doors are locked. The building is sealed. And every exit you think you know… doesn’t belong to you anymore.”
Her expression shifted for the first time.
