One year later...
The Ashcroft mansion looked different.
Warmer.
Filled with laughter instead of silence.
Lily had transformed part of the estate into a foundation that reunited missing children with their biological families.
Vanessa left the corporate empire behind and joined her sister as co-director.
On opening day, hundreds of families attended.
Margaret stood proudly in the front row.
A bronze plaque near the entrance read:
"No child should ever lose their family because of greed."
As the ceremony ended, Lily and Vanessa walked into the mansion's restored garden.
The repaired silver locket rested between them.
No longer broken.
No longer separated.
Inside was the complete photograph of two little girls smiling in their mother's arms.
Vanessa laughed softly.
"You know..."
"What?"
"If you hadn't slapped me at the party..."
Lily burst into laughter.
"We probably never would've opened the lockets."
The sisters embraced beneath the afternoon sun.
Not because they had recovered the years they lost.
Those years were gone forever.
