Chapter 2: The Woman Who Refused to Disappear

Seven months pregnant, Khloe attended every doctor's appointment under Harrison's quiet protection.

She no longer cried herself to sleep.

She decorated a small nursery painted soft sage green.

Every evening she read children's books aloud to the little girl growing inside her.

She refused to let Richard steal motherhood from her.

One rainy afternoon, however, someone knocked on her front door.

Vanessa.

Designer sunglasses.

Cashmere coat.

Perfect makeup.

A cruel smile.

"I thought you'd look worse."

Khloe didn't answer.

Vanessa folded her arms.

"You really think Richard ever loved you?"

Still silence.

"He loves me."

Khloe finally smiled.

It wasn't bitter.

It was calm.

"You mistake attention for love."

Vanessa's expression tightened.

Khloe continued.

"A man who cheats on his wife while she's trying to have his baby will someday cheat on you too."

Vanessa's smile disappeared.

"You'll end up exactly where I am."

For the first time...

Vanessa had no comeback.

She stormed away furious.

A security camera captured every second.

Harrison saved the footage without saying a word.

Sometimes evidence arrived on its own.

Richard called that night.

Thirty-four missed calls.

Khloe never answered.

He left only one voicemail.

"Please... let's fix this."

She deleted it.

Some things couldn't be repaired.
