Chapter 1: The Shockwave

The words hung in the air like a heavy mist, suffocating the chatter of the royal banquet hall. The billionaire grandmother, Lady Evelyn Vance, felt the room spin. The security guards, who had been rushing over to remove the "disruptive" waitress, froze in their tracks.

"What did you just say?" Evelyn’s voice was a ragged whisper, her grip on the girl’s collar softening into a trembling embrace.

The young waitress, whose nametag read 'Mia', was trembling violently. Her eyes, an unmistakable, piercing violet—a rare trait belonging solely to the Vance bloodline—stared back at Evelyn. "My mother... she always told me she wasn't my real mother. She said she took me from a hospital twenty years ago because she couldn't have children. Before she passed away last month, she gave me this necklace and told me to wear it if I ever wanted to find out who I truly was."

A collective gasp rippled through the crowd of high-society elites. Twenty years ago, the kidnapping of baby Anastasia Vance had gripped the nation. It was a tragedy that broke the family; Anastasia’s mother had died of a broken heart just a year later, and the case had eventually gone cold.

Evelyn reached out, her fingers gently tracing the intricate diamond clasp of the necklace. Engraved on the back, nearly microscopic but undeniably there, were the initials: A.V.

"Anastasia," Evelyn wept, pulling the stunned girl into a fierce, protective embrace in front of the entire assembly. "My sweet girl... you're alive."
