CHAPTER 2 — THE FOOTAGE THAT DESTROYED THE LIE

Marcus didn't move.
His eyes remained fixed on the woman curled across the marble floor, both arms wrapped protectively around the child they had waited four years to have.
For one endless heartbeat, the room was silent except for Khloe's uneven breathing.
Then Isabella spoke again.
Her voice trembled just enough.
"Marcus... she lost control. She attacked me first."
Elaine Parker glanced from Isabella's flawless gown to the shattered crystal scattered across the floor.
Nothing about the room supported Isabella's story.
Marcus slowly crossed the suite.
He ignored Isabella completely.
Instead, he knelt beside his wife.
His expensive tuxedo brushed against broken glass as he carefully touched Khloe's face.
"Look at me."
Khloe winced before opening tear-filled eyes.
"My stomach..."
The words barely escaped.
Marcus's expression changed instantly.
Years of boardroom negotiations had taught him how to hide emotion.
But nothing prepared him for seeing fear in his wife's eyes.
He gently lifted her into his arms.
"Call Obstetrics," he ordered.
Elaine grabbed her radio.
"We need a trauma team in the VIP maternity wing. Now."
Doctors and nurses flooded into the suite within seconds.
As they transferred Khloe onto a stretcher, one of the nurses suddenly froze.
"There may be placental trauma."
The sentence hit Marcus harder than any physical blow.
Isabella stepped forward.
"I was trying to defend myself—"
Marcus raised one finger.
She stopped speaking.
It wasn't loud.
It wasn't dramatic.
It was worse.
For the first time since meeting him, Isabella realized she no longer existed in his eyes.
"You don't get to speak."
His voice was calm.
Dead calm.
"I watched my wife lying on the floor."
He looked toward the broken champagne glass.
"Nothing you say matters until I know whether my son is alive."
The elevator doors closed behind the medical team.
Marcus stood perfectly still.
Then he slowly turned toward hospital security.
"I want every camera angle from this floor."
The head of security hesitated.
"Sir... hospital privacy regulations—"
A familiar voice interrupted.
"You'll release them."
Everyone turned.
A distinguished silver-haired man in a tailored charcoal suit walked calmly into the suite.
Dr. Adrian Cole.
Chief Administrator of Saint Victoria Medical Center.
More importantly...
Khloe's uncle.
He had been racing upstairs the moment security reported an assault in the maternity wing.
His eyes landed on the blood staining the marble floor.
His face hardened.
"What happened?"
Isabella immediately stepped forward.
"Doctor, your niece became emotional—"
"Enough."
His voice sliced through hers.
He looked directly at the security chief.
"Bring me every recording from Corridor Seven, Elevator B, and this suite."
"Immediately."
Within three minutes...
The footage began playing inside the hospital security office.
No audio.
No editing.
Just truth.
The screen showed Khloe standing quietly beside the marble table.
Then Isabella approached.
No provocation.
No argument.
Just one deliberate shove.
Khloe staggered backward.
Then another.
The champagne glass fell.
Finally...
Isabella lifted her designer heel...
...and drove it into the side of a seven-month pregnant woman lying on the floor.
Nobody in the room spoke.
Elaine covered her mouth.
One security officer quietly whispered,
"My God..."
Dr. Cole slowly removed his glasses.
His hands trembled—not from fear...
...but from controlled rage.
Marcus never blinked.
He watched the final frame.
Then he spoke one sentence.
"Call the police."
Behind him, Isabella finally understood.
May you like
Her performance hadn't failed.
It had been erased.
