Part 2 New At My Brother’s Wedding, He Hit My Daughter With a Menu Board—Then the CCTV Played the Lie That Destroyed His Life.

CHAPTER 2

THE CAMERA NEVER LIED

The ambulance arrived three minutes later.

Three minutes that felt like three years.

Paramedics rushed toward Sophie while police officers entered the ballroom behind them.

For the first time all evening, Preston looked nervous.

Not guilty.

Nervous.

There was a difference.

The lead officer listened carefully as I explained what happened.

Then he turned toward hotel security.

"Do you have camera footage covering this ballroom?"

The room fell silent.

The security manager nodded.

"Every angle."

Preston immediately stepped forward.

"This is ridiculous."

His smile looked strained.

"The child already had my phone."

The officer didn't respond.

Instead, he asked everyone to remain in the ballroom.

Nobody was allowed to leave.

Not even the groom.

Twenty minutes later, hotel staff connected the footage to the giant reception screens.

The same screens that had been showing wedding photos only an hour earlier.

Now they displayed evidence.

The first video showed Sophie sitting beside me.

Exactly where I said she had been.

The second camera angle showed Preston walking toward our table.

Then the room collectively stopped breathing.

Because the footage clearly showed Preston removing his own phone from his pocket.

Looking around.

Then slipping it into Sophie's denim jacket while she was distracted by cake.

Gasps erupted across the ballroom.

Madison covered her mouth.

My mother's face turned white.

My father looked as if someone had punched him.

The video continued.

Every lie.

Every step.

Every calculated move.

Exposed.

Then came the final angle.

The attack.

The giant oak menu board crashing into an eight-year-old girl's head.

In high definition.

With no excuse possible.

No explanation.

No misunderstanding.

Just violence.

The ballroom exploded into chaos.

And for the first time in his life...

Preston Bennett stood completely alone.
