The chairman opened the file.

Inside: ownership structures, approval chains, financial signatures.

And at the bottom of every page—

Claire Parker.

Ethan felt his throat tighten.

“That’s impossible…”

One of the board members finally spoke.

“She is the majority controller. Every promotion you received was approved by her office.”

A pause.

A deeper one this time.

“Your employment was conditional.”

Ethan’s hands went cold.

“What condition?”

The chairman closed the folder.

“That she never intervened.”

Silence swallowed the room.
