Chapter 1 – The Signature That Changed Everything

The room waited.
Lucas expected tears.
Sophie expected begging.
His parents expected humiliation.
Instead, Isabella slowly bent down, gathered the divorce papers one page at a time, and placed them neatly on the polished table.
Her hands never shook.
"Is that all?" she asked quietly.
Lucas frowned.
"You heard me."
"I did."
She uncapped the expensive fountain pen lying beside the contract.
Without reading a single clause...
She signed.
Isabella Carter.
One elegant signature.
One calm motion.
The entire family exchanged amused smiles.
Lucas laughed first.
"I thought you'd fight harder."
"I already fought."
She placed the pen beside the contract.
"I'm simply finished."
Sophie couldn't hide her satisfaction.
"Smart decision."
"You were never good enough for Lucas."
Isabella looked at her for the first time.
"No."
Her voice was almost gentle.
"I was simply too good for this family."
Silence.
Lucas slammed his palm on the table.
"Get out."
She nodded.
"As you wish."
Before leaving, she removed the platinum wedding ring from her finger.
Instead of placing it on the table...
She dropped it into Lucas's untouched glass of twenty-five-year-old whiskey.
Clink.
The tiny sound echoed through the mansion.
"For seven years," she said without turning around,
"I believed I was protecting an empire."
She looked back over her shoulder.
"I didn't realize..."
"...I was protecting thieves."
Then she walked away.
Nobody stopped her.
Nobody noticed the small encrypted flash drive she quietly left beneath the crystal centerpiece.
Exactly sixty seconds later...
Lucas's phone vibrated.
May you like
Unknown Sender.
"The countdown has begun."
