CHAPTER 4 — THE HOUSE STARTS TO FALL

Inside the mansion, lights began turning on.
One by one.
Windows filling with movement.
Whispers spreading.
Servants. Lawyers. Family members.
Watching.
Listening.
Understanding something was wrong.
Harold stepped back into the doorway, gripping the frame like it was the only thing keeping him upright.
“You can’t do this,” he said, quieter now.
I looked at him calmly.
“I already did.”
Eleanor’s voice broke for the first time.
“Harold… what did Ethan do?”
But no one answered her.
Because the truth was already unfolding.
I pulled out the second document from the folder.
A corporate seizure clause.
Triggered automatically upon Ethan’s death.
Due to hidden conditions in their financial structure.
Their offshore accounts.
Their shared holdings.
Everything they thought was invisible.
Wasn’t.
Harold stumbled backward.
“No… no, this is impossible…”
But his phone rang.
Then his security.
Then someone inside the house started shouting.
“Sir—your accounts—something is happening—everything is freezing—!”
The sound cut through him harder than the storm ever could.
Eleanor looked at me one last time.
“You planned this?” she asked.
I shook my head.
“No.”
A pause.
“Ethan did.”
May you like
And then I added quietly:
“I just kept his promise.”
