CHAPTER 1 — The Collapse of Control

Damian stood frozen in the boardroom, his confidence cracking like glass under pressure.

The words on the document didn’t change.

Only his reality did.

“Elena Voss… majority shareholder.”

He repeated it silently, as if repetition could erase it.

But it only made it worse.

Veronica’s breath turned shallow beside him.

“This is some kind of trick,” Damian finally snapped, his voice rising too fast. “She can’t just—appear and rewrite reality.”

The executive closed the folder calmly.

“No trick,” he said. “Just ownership.”

Elena finally moved.

A single step forward.

And the entire room shifted with it.

“You built your empire,” she said softly, “on approvals that were never yours to grant.”

Damian turned sharply toward her.

“You’ve been behind me this whole time?”

Elena tilted her head slightly.

“I’ve been ahead of you.”

Silence followed.
