The hospital room exploded into chaos.
Three security officers rushed inside, followed by the head nurse and two police officers who had been stationed downstairs.
"Put the baby down. Now!" one officer ordered.
Brent froze with Noah still in his arms.
Victor Hale tried to regain control.
"This is a family matter! That woman is emotionally unstable. We're taking custody of the child."
The head nurse stepped in front of my bed.
"Mrs. Morgan is under our protection. Any attempt to remove her children without authorization is considered kidnapping."
Dad laughed.
"You have no idea who you're dealing with."
Before anyone could respond, another man walked into the room wearing a dark suit.
"My name is Daniel Cross," he said calmly. "I'm attorney for the late Caleb Morgan."
The entire room became silent.
Daniel placed a sealed envelope on the table.
"Mr. Morgan anticipated exactly this situation."
He opened the envelope and read aloud.
"If anyone from Ellie Hale's family attempts to separate her from our children, I authorize immediate police intervention and request the release of all recorded evidence."
Brent slowly lowered Noah into the nurse's arms.
Then the television mounted in the room suddenly displayed footage from the hospital hallway.
Every camera had captured Victor striking me and Brent taking my newborn son.
