Chapter 1: The Bride Who Was Never Blind

Adrian Cross stared at me as if I had just changed the rules of a game he had spent years preparing.

The golden light of the honeymoon suite fell across the discarded mask on the bedside table. Beside it lay my diamond necklace, cold and useless, like every promise my family had ever made to me.

“You copied the records?” he asked quietly.

I nodded.

“Every transfer. Every fake invoice. Every offshore account Marcus thought he buried. My father kept the company books locked in his study, but Marcus was careless when he drank.”

Adrian’s expression sharpened.

“And you waited?”

“I survived,” I said. “There’s a difference.”

For the first time that night, his anger was not aimed at me.

I opened the hidden seam inside my bridal gown and pulled out a small silver flash drive. Adrian looked at it as though I had placed a loaded weapon between us.

“My family sold me because they thought I had no value,” I said. “So let’s prove them wrong.”

Adrian slowly picked up the drive.

“What do you want?”

I looked at the mask, then at the contracts, then back at him.

“I want them to lose everything they stole. But I won’t be your prisoner, your pawn, or your punishment.”

A faint smile touched his mouth.

“Then don’t be.”

He opened his laptop. Within minutes, the files appeared on the screen.

Names. Dates. Bank transfers. Signatures.

And one recording.

Marcus’s voice filled the room.

“Emily won’t talk. She never does. That’s what makes her useful.”

Adrian’s face went still.

I watched the last piece of doubt leave him.

By sunrise, my family would discover they had not sold me into a marriage.

They had delivered me directly to the man who knew how to destroy them.

And worse for them—

I knew where every body was buried.
