Chapter 5: The Last Truth

Arthur's world collapsed.

"Lily!"

His voice echoed through the mansion as security guards searched every room.

Nothing.

Then Arthur's phone rang.

Unknown number.

Victoria's calm voice filled the silence.

"If you want your daughter alive... come alone."

The abandoned cliffside estate overlooked the Atlantic Ocean.

Rain hammered the broken windows.

Arthur found Lily tied to a chair but unharmed.

Victoria stood behind her.

A handgun rested in her shaking hand.

"You ruined everything," she said.

Arthur took one slow step forward.

"My mother knew who you were."

Victoria laughed bitterly.

"She was going to expose me."

"I couldn't let that happen."

"You murdered four people for money."

Victoria didn't deny it.

"I survived by becoming whoever rich men wanted."

"For the first time... I almost believed I could change."

She looked at Lily.

"But she saw me."

Police sirens echoed in the distance.

Detective Hale had secretly tracked Arthur's phone.

Victoria smiled sadly.

"I guess this is the end."

She lowered the gun...

Then suddenly aimed it at Arthur.

Before she could fire—

A sniper's single shot shattered the silence.

Victoria collapsed.

The weapon slid across the wet floor.

Lily screamed.

Arthur rushed forward and untied her, holding her tightly as police stormed inside.

Three months later...

The mansion felt alive again.

Flowers bloomed beneath Eleanor's favorite oak tree.

Arthur established the Eleanor Foundation, providing legal aid for elderly victims of financial exploitation and abuse.

Detective Hale reopened the files connected to Victoria's past.

Three more families finally received justice.

As for Lily...

She still carried the memory of that terrible day.

But she no longer carried it alone.

One afternoon, she placed a white lily on her grandmother's grave.

"I told the truth, Grandma."

A warm breeze stirred the trees.

Arthur rested a hand on his daughter's shoulder.

"You saved our family."

Lily looked toward the bright sky.

For the first time since the fall...

May you like

She smiled.

The End.
