Chapter 1: The Woman Who Shouldn't Exist

The ballroom remained frozen in silence.

"Mom... I finally found you."

The little boy clung desperately to the woman in cream, his small hands trembling as tears soaked her shoulder.

The woman held him as if letting go would destroy them both.

The elegant woman who had been chasing him finally reached them.

"Take your hands off him!" she snapped. "Security!"

But the boy screamed.

"No!"

The sound echoed through the ballroom.

Everyone stared.

The woman in cream slowly lifted her head. Tears streamed down her face.

"His name is Ethan," she whispered. "He hates thunderstorms. He sleeps with a blue stuffed rabbit hidden under his pillow. And every year on his birthday, he asks for strawberry cake even though he's allergic to strawberries."

The room went silent.

The furious woman froze.

Only one person could know those things.

Only a mother.

Ethan's small body shook as he cried harder.

"I knew you'd come back," he whispered.

The woman kissed his forehead.

"I never stopped trying."

Across the room, a powerful voice suddenly spoke.

"That's impossible."

Everyone turned.

Standing near the stage was billionaire investor Richard Blackwell—Ethan's father.

His face had turned completely pale.

"Emma died three years ago."

The woman looked directly at him.

"No, Richard."

Her voice cracked.

"I was buried alive."

Gasps swept through the crowd.

The photographers lowered their cameras.

Nobody dared speak.

And for the first time in three years, she told the truth.
